Once a year Sheffield University laboratories open to the public for Discovery Night; an evening of events for the whole family. PluriMes Researchers at Sheffield hosted an event called "The Stem Cell Promise". The Sheffield team addressed the following topical issue: "Stem cells have been promised to provide a glorious new age in the treatment of medical conditions, but where are these therapies? Are they possible? And why is it taking so long?"
The general public experienced how stem cell research is conducted in the laboratory in a hands-on practical, watched a short movie about research and therapies, played EuroStemCell's floor game about stem cell fate and read posters about the PluriMes project.
Discovery Night took place on Friday 13 March 2015 this year. You can find more information on the Discovery Night's website.
